Attendance Expectations

Attendance Expectations
2025-2026

Attending RTCC every day is necessary to achieve career readiness,
IRC (Industry Recognized Credential) attainment, and program completion.

Therefore, student absence will no longer be marked as excused or unexcused.

Absences will be noted as one of two categories:

“Absent with Contact”
Or
“Absent without Contact”

Dismissals with parent/guardian contact will be noted as:

“Dismissed with Contact”

Any other early exit from school will be noted as:

“Student Skip”

Tardiness with parent/guardian contact will be noted as:

“Tardy with Contact”

Tardiness with no parent/guardian contact will be noted as:

“Tardy without Contact”

Two tardies, two early dismissals, or a combination of the two = 1 full day absence

Parents and Guardians are expected to call or email RTCC by 9am if their student will be absent, tardy, or dismissed early. Failure to do so will result in the appropriate labeling in Powerschool (see above).

Students who are absent from school will experience natural consequences such as missed lessons, less time to practice and prepare for IRC tests, communication with sending schools, and less opportunity to earn points on their Professional Skills Rubric which can affect their ability to be placed in Work-Based Learning as well as a lower overall class grade.

Students who miss 2 days a month (18 days a year), are by definition, chronically absent from school.

This chronic absence may affect your student’s credit and IRC attainment as well as overall program completion and success.

We understand that inclement weather, illness, and other life circumstances can keep students out of school. We encourage your student to attend every day unless they have a fever or other serious issue affecting their life.

Students who are chronically absent from RTCC risk their eligibility to attend their program. Please be mindful of this when taking the day off, leaving early, or coming in late. RTCC reserves the right to dismiss students who are chronically absent from school when it is determined that they are not present enough to be a CTE (Career and Technical Education) program completer and/or they are not meeting program expectations.

  • Please note that students are responsible for gathering and completing work that was missed due to absence.
